Review: The Bank Job (2008)

The Big Screener Review:

If you are looking for the typical Jason Statham movie, you are not going to find it here. The film is based on real events, and while I am sure creative license played its part, you won’t find the sort of outlandish action you would expect from Crank or the Transporter series. Terry Leather is a more serious role for Statham, and if you pay close attention to the scenes where he interacts with his character’s wife Wendy (Keeley Hawes), you will see that Statham does have more potential than many of his previous roles depict.

The film starts a bit slow, but after the first 20 – 30 minutes it does begin to pick up. While I did enjoy “The Bank Job”, I am glad I rented it rather than seeing it in the theater. It was entertaining, but did not have the “pop” I would expect for the price of admission.
